Welcome to the Land of the Dragon - China

Punctuality;
-
Appointments are necessary and, if possible, should be made between one-to-two months in advance, preferably in writing.
-
You should arrive at meetings on time or slightly early. Arriving late is an insult and could negatively affect your relationship
-
Business is hierarchical. Decisions are unlikely to be made during the meetings you attend.
Seating arrangements;
-
Guests are generally escorted to their seats, which are in descending order of rank. Senior people generally sit opposite senior people from the other side.
Order of speaking;
-
Only senior members of the negotiating team will speak.
-
If the question was direct to you you can answer. Otherwise, do not.
How do people address each other in China?
-
Chinese will state their last name first, followed by the given name.
-
Never call someone by only his or her last name. Unless specifically asked, do not call someone by his or her first name.
-
If you do not know the person's name, call him "Mr" or if women "Miss".
