Gifts Exchange.

As in many Asian cultures, gifts are seen as an act of common courtesy.
 

  • In China, gifts are always given when attending an important event. In general, gifts are given at Chinese New Year, weddings, births and birthdays.
     

  • The Chinese like food and a nice food basket will make a great gift.

  • Gifts are not opened when received. 
     

  • Present gifts with two hands.
     

  • They should instead be discreetly handed to the recipient.
     

  • Eight is the luckiest number, so giving eight of something brings luck to the recipient.

    AVOID Giving; 

  •  Clocks, handkerchiefs or straw sandals. Since they are associated with funerals and death.
     

  • Flowers also associate these with funerals in China.
     

  • Scissors, knives or other cutting utensils. Becausae they indicate the severing of the relationship.
     

  • Never give four of anything, because it is unlucky number in China
